Site Seeing In The Area

Cannock Chase is not all Pine Forest to the north where Springslade Lodge tearoom is located there are rolling hills and the beautiful Sherbrook valley.

A short walk soon gets you to the Glacial Boulder and a little further to Brocton Ancient Oak Woodland. Springslade Lodge offers many circular walks of various lengths and of different interest.

The German War Graves and cemetery and the Commonwealth Graves along with the Katyn Memorial are all a short walk from the tearooms.

A short drive sees you at Milford Common and the entrance to the famous Shugborough Hall and Stafford Museum a little further takes you to the historic Wolseley Bridge and The Wildlife Centre. The Haywood villages can be visited with a walk to the Ancient Packhorse Bridge that crosses the river at Shugborough.

Visit the museum at Brindley Heath or the Cannock Chase Museum at Hednesford.

Towns close to the tearooms are Stafford, Cannock, Rugeley and Lichfield.

Wildlife on Cannock Chase

The Tearooms at Springslade Lodge are ideally situated for studying the wildlife on Cannock Chase in Staffordshire.

Situated in deciduous and coniferous woodland,  close to open heath land, valleys with stream life and even a reclaimed gravel quarry, the tearoom is a good place to start and end your day exploring the nature on Cannock Chase.

Mountain Biking on Cannock Chase

Cannock Chase offers superb tracks, trails and bridleways for mountain bike riders. Springslade Lodge is situated on a Bridleway and is ideal for a refreshment stop when exploring the many trails and tracks of The Chase in Staffordshire.

MTB riding on Cannock Chase varies from loose pebble surfaces, grass covered bridleways, forest tracks and fireroads, single track.  If you are new to the area Exporer OS map 6 is a good purchase, otherwise just follow the waymarked signs.

The Chase is 25sq miles of Pine Forest, Heathland, Woodland, valleys and hills with quiet roads passing through from east to west.

Although many other activities use The Chase it is possible to still find very quiet trails to enjoy your ride on.

Then return to Springslade Lodge tearooms for snacks, lunch or afternoon tea, there is a bike park and outside garden for your use.

Walking on Cannock Chase

Walking and Rambling on Cannock Chase Staffordshire then Springslade Lodge Tearoom is the ideal meeting place to start and finish your walk. Start with a warm drink and light breakfast, stock up on drinks and snacks then set out on one of the many beautiful walks possible from Sprignslade Lodge, then return for afternoon tea or earlier for lunch.

The Heart of England Way and The Staffordshire Way pass The Lodge and so why not call on the Tearooms to get refreshed with food and drink.
